Accounting Assistant

Our client is a leading transportation operation, serving a wide variety of customers around the world.

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Assistant works closely with all companies and teams to support accounts receivable, full cycle accounting processes and production of financial reporting. The following list key responsibilities only and do not reflect all duties.

• Performs accounts receivable duties such as collection calls to clients, collecting and posting client payments, which include processing cash up fronts and credit card payments.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prepares and distributes client billings.
• Prepares draft month-end, quarter-end and fiscal year-end financial reporting packages.
• Works with the Controller and external auditors to support fiscal year end audits, review engagements and tax returns.
• Provides key backup duties when another accounting team member is absent.
• Following OH&S rules and responsibilities.

Our client requires the following:

• Previous accounts receivable experience in an office environment.
• Previous full cycle accounting experience in an office environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical and computer skills.
• Post-secondary education or degree/diploma in the accounting field.
• A minimum of five years' experience in an accounting role, including A/R duties.
• Becomes an integral part of the accounting team.

Salary to be determined based on experience. This is an in-office role only and the office is located in Burnside Industrial Park. Public transportation is available and there is free onsite parking.
