Job Description

Diptyque- Luxury Fragrance House has established itself as one of the most renowned, leading fragrance houses within the luxury market today. Founded in 1961, the Maison is known for its mix of iconic scented candles, personal fragrances, bath and body products, and home décor. Its flagship boutique is in Paris’ 5th arrondissement at 34 Boulevard Saint Germain.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chief of Staff & Strategy to join our Diptyque Americas President’s office. The Candidate will support the Diptyque Americas President and her leadership team, in the development and implementation of the regional long-term strategy, along with initiatives and processes to unlock and accelerate profitable growth.

The Chief of Staff & Strategy will act as a lever for regional integration and alignment of priorities in support of the Brand’s strategic roadmap. They will collaborate actively with cross-functional regional and global stakeholders to support the delivery of regional strategic and business goals.

This role entails working closely with the President and her leadership team, providing consulting style support to our internal cross-functional teams to help accelerate key strategic projects. At the President’s request, the Chief of Staff & Strategy may lead specific transformation projects or strategic initiatives, working in close collaboration with cross functional teams in region and Paris headquarters as relevant.

This new role will be part of the Americas Leadership team, will report into the Americas’ Diptyque President and will work alongside Regional Cross-Functional Teams such as Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, Digital and Sales - as well as corresponding Global functions including the HQ Strategy team. The role is based in our NYC office.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic planning and growth expansion

  • Work with the Americas President and her Leadership team on the development, communication, and execution of the Maison’s strategy and plans in the region.
  • Track and consider the impact of internal (regional and Global) and external factors (such as economy, competition, market trends etc) in the development of strategic plans.
  • Identify regional strategic opportunities and needs; Ensure that regional plans are aligned with the Global strategy.
  • Provide analytical support to the Americas leadership team during business deep dives, quarterly business reviews, strategic planning and delivery, and other key business initiatives. Develop Business Cases and strategies in partnership with leadership team, with appropriate analysis and insight.
  • Support the GM and Regional team in all projects related to New Market Entry and Portfolio Expansion/optimization; Identify growth opportunities in existing and new markets and channels in partnership with regional leadership
  • Collaborate with regional stakeholders to ensure that the Regional Strategy is being adhered to.

Processes and priorities

  • Advocate, lead and encourage process improvement, corporate development, better ways of working and communication flows, for greater efficiency and optimal use of resources, in partnership with the leadership team.
  • Support RACI development as needed in partnership with HR and regional heads, eliminating potential overlap and dilution of efforts. Help othersadapt to new approaches.
  • Maintain and manage Regional Calendarpopulating key regional events, initiatives and projects; Support President and Leadership team in project prioritization, workingwith key stakeholders in region and Paris HQ, and monitoring project list as new ones come in play. Ensure that departmental priorities align with regional and global strategy.

Program & Project Management

  • Provide effective corporate programs/projects management as pertinent, to achieve Americas strategic vision and deliver financial plans.
  • Support and monitor implementation of Global/Regional strategic initiatives in the region: Establish and communicate a clear framework for teams to deliver key projects. Provide robust data analysis, tracking operations and strategic insights, as well as driving cross functional “postmortem” analysis and adjustments if needed, within region, and between region and HQ.

Regional meetings and communication

  • Organize and implement a Regional Meeting & Communication structure to foster transparent collaboration across all levels of the business.
  • Support GM in preparation and delivery of all strategic, brand and commercial meetings, Board presentations, Business reviews, offsites etc.
  • Funnel bottom/up and top/down communication to drive organizational effectiveness.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Consolidate and complement cross functional business performance analysis and market information, establishing a regional cockpit for regular business review; work with leadership team to recommend actions if business goals are not met, or to identify opportunities and further leverage successes and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Regional leadership and HQ partners to gather and communicate data and reporting needs in support of Global Data Program. Create ad-hoc analyses as needed

Position Requirements

  • Top-tier Management Consulting background preferred (3+ years) or relevant strategic, business or financial planning experience. Relevant industry experience. Affinity and passion for luxury.
  • Strong strategic thinking, financial and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearlyand adapt to different audiences (written and verbal, clear presentations)
  • Experience working with various levels of stakeholders and ability to manage cross functional teams.
  • Curious and humble, able to read a company’s culture and quickly build constructive relationships.
  • Fast learner, solution and process-oriented, pragmatic and flexible, dependable, positive attitude and balanced.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced demanding environment, equally comfortable in corporate and entrepreneurial settings.
  • Relevant tertiary education and experience.
  • Highly advanced Excel and PowerPoint (slide writing) skills.
  • Experience working in a global organization is advantageous.
