Job Description

Child and Youth Workers support students in skill development, self management and problem solving to improve academic achievement.  Programs are developed to meet the individual needs of each student. 

  • develop and provide individual behaviour management programs for students in consultation with the classroom teacher

  • provide assistance for students in the acquisition, reinforcement and maintenance of academic, communication and social skill

  • providing services as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • can be assigned to individual students through SIP grants

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Child & Youth Worker Diploma
  • Minimum of one year experience

  • Experience working with children and youth requiring additional educational supports from diverse ethno-cultural and racial backgrounds

  • Child & Youth Care Degree and Membership in the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counselors are assets .

Additional Information

Rate of Pay:

$40.89 per hour

Schedule:

Up to 7 hours per day between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm
