Job Summary: The University of Wisconsin Clinical Trials Institute (UW CTI) is a partnership between the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) and UW Health. It supports clinical research professionals, investigators, and participants to advance discovery and research in the prevention, detection, and treatment of disease to help improve the health of individuals, families, and communities across Wisconsin and beyond. The Clinical Research Coordinator Supervisor will supervise the UW CTI clinical research coordinators. They will have the responsibility of recruiting and hiring of new clinical research coordinator staff, take the lead in competency-based onboarding of new coordinators, performance management of current staff, and allocating work on clinical trials and provide day-to-day operational support for research coordinator activities. The Clinical Research Supervisor will be expected to maintain coverage of clinical trials and be willing to address urgent issues outside of normal working hours (this includes evenings, weekends, and holidays). Must have flexible work schedule availability. The ideal candidate will have strong time management and communication skills with the ability to work independently or in teams, manage multiple projects amidst competing priorities, track details, and continuously improve processes. They will have strong knowledge of industry appropriate regulations and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. The Clinical Research Supervisor is expected to provide support to the coordinators if the team has planned vacation or is unable to complete their on-call shift. The supervisor may be required to travel to other UW Health clinics so they should have reliable transportation or be willing to use public transportation. This position requires on-call status for subject recruitment, enrollment, and subject monitoring. Responsibilities: Makes methodological recommendations for multiple clinical trials simultaneously or clinical trials with unique complexity, performs research activities, and compiles and analyzes the quarterly review of all Principal Investigator accounts to aid in the performance of the clinical trials research process. Supervises staff and functions under the Principal Investigator's medical license and cannot perform any tasks that by state or local law require a medical license to perform. 20% Schedules logistics and secures resources for a defined clinical research trial of high complexity and/or multiple research trials 10% Recruits, screens, and enrolls trial participants, collects complex information, performs medical assessments, and answers detailed questions with supervision from a medically licensed professional 10% Collects, prepares, processes, analyzes, and submits participant data and samples to appropriate entities, adhering to research protocols and compliance with applicable policies and procedures 10% Assists with review of current research trials, development of operational protocols and work unit policies, and makes recommendations to leadership for improvements 10% Serves as a subject matter expert and main point of contact for clinical research participants providing information regarding research procedures, expectations, and informational inquiries 25% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees 15% Supports initiatives within the UW CTI, as assigned, including but not limited to, process improvement Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison. • Previous supervisory experience
• Previous experience managing complex clinical trials, including drug and device studies
• Previous experience working with Contract Research Organizations and Study Sponsors
• Previous experience with OnCore, eBinders, Electronic Health Records (preferably Epic), and IRB applications

License/Certification: Required SOCRA - Certification In Clinical Research CCRP, ACRP, CCRA, CCRC, ACRP-CP are all comparable certifications that are acceptable. Must be certified or willing to become certified within 6 months of hire. Required Drivers License - Valid Work Type: Full Time: 100% This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. Appointment Type, Duration: Ongoing/Renewable Salary: Minimum $66,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications The starting salary for this position is $66,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
