The Board is currently accepting applications for the following contract Custodial positions:
FLOATER CUSTODIAN Contract position with full time hours (40 per week) Position Summary The Floater Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of school buildings and equipment; ensuring compliance with Board, local and provincial government operational and health and safety standards. Duties may include but not limited to; reporting malfunctions of heating and ventilating equipment to the Head Custodian and appropriate supervisor personnel, removing debris and dangerous articles from the school; including the outdoor areas; removing snow and applying salt-sand mixture from entrances and walkways, cuts grass and maintains gardens as well as general cleaning responsibilities. The hours of work can vary based on Board needs.
There is an expectation that Floater Custodians are available to work all of the shifts as outlined:
- 3:30pm- 11:30pm
- 4:00pm –12:00am
- 5:00pm – 1:00am
- Full flexibility is required for calls to come in early or for day shifts
This position falls under the CUPE Local 1483 Collective Agreement.
Skills And Qualifications - Secondary School Diploma or equivalent – proof must be provided at time of application
- Good interpersonal skills in dealing with a variety of staff and students.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize the completion of custodial activities in assigned areas within the school.
- Previous cleaning and/or custodial experience
- Must have a valid driver's license and a dependable vehicle available during your shift
- Must be willing and able to travel to ALL schools within the Dufferin-Peel geographic area; (Mississauga, Brampton, Bolton, Caledon and Orangeville).
- Flexibility is required
- Must be compliant with Board policies and procedures as well as Health and Safety guidelines
We require candidates to have proficiency in both written and verbal English to effectively communicate within our team and other stakeholders. All new employees will undergo custodial training as part of their onboarding process. Successful completion of a formal written test is required to maintain employment.
