About the job

DART Aerospace Company is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and mentor our Canadian Engineering team. This person is responsible for executing Strategic Priorities for the Engineering team, and in turn, the Strategic Priorities for the company as a whole. The Engineering Manager will also be responsible for providing oversight for new product development projects and ensure that all activities are aligned with the approved budget and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and monitor resources (internal and external) to complete project deliverables according to schedules developed by the project management office.
  • Regularly measure and monitor the progress of projects to identify variances from the plan and make needed corrections in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure quality design work by providing engineering guidance and best practices to direct reports.
  • Assist the leadership team with identifying and executing research and development projects that will drive growth and a competitive advantage for the company.
  • Support technical review meetings internally and with the Customer, to help identify solutions to customer problems.
  • Support the development and implementation of harmonized processes and tools (DART way) across the engineering organization.
  • Manage and develop the required technical skill sets and competencies through internal engineering resources and external contractors.
  • Actively collaborate with other departments to ensure flawless execution of company strategy.
  • Direct oversight of the Engineering Department budget for Montreal, including R&D, Labor hours, and Indirect Costs.
  • Coordinate with the VP of Engineering to provide insight and vision for the direction of the Montreal Engineering Department.
  • Collaborate with Leads at other DART sites to ensure consistent policies and best practices.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience (ideally in Aerospace industry)
  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering related field (Mechanical, Aerospace)
  • Experience in design concepts (prototyping, CAD, manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, composites, design for manufacturing).
  • Experience leading with successfully delivering projects on time and on budget.
  • Experience working with project/department budgets.
  • Experience managing teams across multiple site locations.
  • Ability to maintain employee morale, productive workforce, and company expectations.
  • Coaches’ direct reports for job and career direction including using performance improvement plans if necessary.
  • Foster an environment of “continuous improvement” in which the engineering team.
  • Physical ability to engage in hands-on, field-based tasks when needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of certification processes.
  • Proficient using MS Office, including Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Understanding of SolidWorks
