Job Description

Steve Madden Canada is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Analyst with a strong background in both retail and wholesale operations. The ideal candidate will have an accounting degree or designation and experience analyzing financial data within the retail industry. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a leading footwear and fashion brand while contributing to key financial decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, analyze, and report on monthly financial performance, providing insights to senior management.
  • Analyze sales, margins, and operating costs across both retail and wholesale channels.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations and marketing, to monitor budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts.
  • Monitor and analyze cash flow, inventory levels, and profitability across various channels.
  • Perform financial modeling and provide recommendations to optimize financial performance.
  • Review and analyze key financial metrics, including revenue growth, cost controls, and capital expenditures.
  • Support in the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with senior management to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for growth.
  • Assist in month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Provide support during the audit process and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA designation or equivalent preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis within the retail and wholesale sectors.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level) and financial modeling.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive approach to identifying issues and providing actionable solutions.
