Graphic Designer

Location: Hybrid - Kingston, ON

Empire Life is looking to hire a Graphic Designer to join our Communication & Design team!

What you’ll be working on

  • Updating existing design materials, and creating new concepts/creative for marketing materials, identity design, website designs, email and social media campaigns, digital ads and banners.
  • Adhere to timelines and meet all deadlines while producing accurate and high-quality work.
  • Coordinate and maintain day-to-day workflow of assigned design requests, working with business units, compliance, translations, web development and purchasing through job completion
  • Act as a consultant on branding questions and issues related to design, including graphic selection
  • Maintain Workfront project status and file document system
  • Participate in client presentations and internal feedback sessions
  • Identify hardware & software system requirements, training needs, and remain current on design processes in various media (e.g. digital and print)

What we’re looking for you to have

  • Graduate of a 3+ year post-secondary graphic design program
  • 0-3 years work experience in graphic design
  • Excellent graphic design skills in typography, page layout, colour theory and use of brand standards and design systems. General understanding of UI/UX principles and prototyping techniques.
  • Excellent understanding of designing for multiple medias: web, mobile, social, HTML5, email, print design and motion graphics
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office and Google suite
  • Knowledge or understanding of WorkFront is an asset
  • Knowledge of AODA accessibility standards and designing for meeting the requirements for both web and pdf accessibility
  • Knowledge of complex form design, print prepress production
  • Provisional Registered Graphic Designer (RGD) designation is an asset
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
  • Experience in insurance/financial services industry is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships
  • Strong design eye for typography, colour and layout
  • Clear writing, keyboarding, editing and proof-reading skills
  • High degree of diplomacy
  • Attention to detail/accuracy
