Job Description:

Job Title: Business Development Manager, Healthcare

Japan represents a significant market with strong demand for healthcare services. Last year, Japan grew 50% yoy with expectation to grow another 30% in 2025.

With a dedicated Business Development Manager(BDM), the team can better target untapped segment in driving incremental revenue growth. A local market sales leader can tailor strategies to Japanese customer behaviors and business practices ensuring a competitive edge.

The BDM will drive speedier decision making, enhances cross divisions collaboration to drive one UPS strategy, team development, customers engagements and identifying any potential growth areas.

He/She is responsible for overseeing an assigned sales plan requiring the generation of new business within new or existing accounts and the retention of existing accounts. The incumbent will coach Area Sales Managers (ASMs) and Account Executives (AEs) to develop their sales skills and increase their product knowledge. The ASMs and AEs are reporting to the BDM in the sales team.  

Responsibilities:

  • Drive new business development by consistently pursuing business opportunities across UPS’s service offerings
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends to gain competitive intelligence, utilizing this information to engage prospects and customers with relevant UPS solutions
  • Lead strategic customer communications and collaborate with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions that meet customer needs and drive revenue growth
  • Negotiate and close high-value contracts, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes for both UPS and the customer
  • Build and manage a high-performing sales team, providing coaching, training, and support to help them excel.
  • Work closely with internal departments to drive integrated sales campaigns.
  • Achieve and exceed ambitious sales targets and KPIs in healthcare business development activities.

Requirements:

  • Degree holder in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Marketing, Business, or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a sales role, with a strong track record in business development in healthcare industry, including leadership or strategic responsibilities
  • In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, market dynamics, and regulatory landscape in Japan.
  • Proven track record of increasing sales against plan objectives in previous assignments.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills to assess and drive account performance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence both customers and internal teams
  • Willingness to travel for business as required
