Job Description

Role Brief

Reporting to the VP Learning Experiences, this position is a creative and collaborative role within the Service team focused on the design and development of engaging and effective learning experiences for various clients and projects. Working cross functionally with other internal teams and leveraging learner-centric design skills, with emphasis on the user experience and outcomes are the keys to success.

The Learning Experience Designer (LXD) is an entry-level role dedicated to the creation and development of learner-centered instructional materials. This position focuses on applying instructional design methodologies and user experience (UX) concepts to develop engaging and effective learning resources. The role emphasizes visual graphic design and the use of AI tools to enhance the efficiency and quality of content creation.

The prevailing business priority is to deliver innovative and impactful learning experiences that enhance learner engagement, retention, and performance, while aligning with the client's vision and brand.

Role Essentials

  • Instructional Design & Development: Support the design and development of instructional materials that are learner-centric based on sound adult learning principles.
  • Content Creation: Focus on the creation of multimedia learning assets, ensuring they are engaging, visually appealing, and aligned with instructional goals.
  • Graphic Design: Develop impactful visuals to support the interface of eLearning modules, PowerPoint presentations, and other instructional materials.
  • UX Design: Develop intuitive user experiences that enable desired learning outcomes.
  • Workflow Optimization: Use AI tools to streamline content creation tasks, enhancing productivity and consistency.
  • Communication Skills: ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external parties, using clear and concise language, both verbally and in writing.
  • Time Management: Ability to work around competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Collaboration: Ability to build and maintain a culture of respect, comradery, and support among colleagues; take a team approach to resolving more complex day-to-day issues.

Responsibilities

You will participate in a variety of tasks in support of creating learning assets for various learning modalities on a project-to-project basis.

Instructional Design: Consult with identified stakeholders to conduct learning needs analysis for an identified target audience, complete low/high and detail level design documents, storyboards to address knowledge and/or performance gaps, and to develop training materials to support learning that will foster accelerated change, drive improved performance and enable more effective decision-making.

  • Collaborate with team members and Subject Matter Experts to articulate learning objectives, instructional and assessment strategies, content outlines, delivery methods, content development and evaluation plans.
  • Design learning experiences that are engaging and interactive including knowledge assessments.
  • Research, conceptualize and write creative, engaging, and persuasive content.
  • Develop learning materials for a wide range of training modalities.
  • Proof and edit materials produced by other team members.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in learning design and apply them to improve the quality and effectiveness of learning outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Graphic Design, or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in instructional design, content development, or a related field, with a focus on visual design.
  • Certification in Instructional Design or Graphic Design.
  • Portfolio showcasing examples of instructional materials and visual design work.
  • Instructional Design Tools - Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Vyond.
  • Design Tools - Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Canva, Figma.
  • AI Workflow Tools - AI-driven tools like ChatGPT for content generation.
  • Self-starter and someone who can multitask and function independently.
