Job Description

The Development Manager is responsible for leading all development-related aspects of a portfolio of KFC Franchisees. The position plays a key role in partnering with the Chief Development Officer in developing the strategic unit growth agenda for KFC and delivering our annual Net New Unit Growth Target for KFC Canada.

Responsibilities: (includes but not limited to)

  • Responsible for all development aspects of a portfolio of franchisees, including development agreements, aspects related to new builds (e.g., site registration, openings, etc.), and renovation schedules.
  • Manage asset action timelines, renewals, and transfers of franchise agreements.
  • Liaise with Legal team on managing the back-end process of all asset actions; IFA contracts, incentive reports, fees and invoicing
  • Work cross-functionally to support with various internal meetings and reporting including our Transaction Growth Meetings (TGM), Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Market Growth Plan (MGP)
  • Execute against strategic objectives as defined in annual Strategy On A Page (SOAP) and partner to define KFC Canada unit growth strategy
  • Work collaboratively with the Operations and Development functions to manage the Growth Ready Strategy for our Franchised network
  • Find and implement improvements to existing development systems and processes.
  • Support the development team and the Restaurant Support Centre (RSC) in executing against various cross-functional strategic objectives.
  • Other duties as required by CDO.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education/Certifications: 4-year, post-graduate degree in business, finance, or related field. Preferred: MBA
  • 3 to 5 years or more of overall business experience
  • A Growth Mindset – Highly motivated “Go-getter” with a strong drive for continuous improvement and positive attitude
  • Familiarity with the Canadian market and/or willingness to learn deeply
  • Proven experience in dealing with external stakeholders; franchisees, franchisors, brokers, banks, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships
  • Able to influence key stakeholders and provide business solutions
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Strong strategic vision and commercial acumen
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products, especially MS Excel
  • High work ethic and integrity
  • Prior experience in consulting or investment banking will be considered an asset
  • Prior experience in QSR or Retail development will be considered an asset
  • Prior experience working with global stakeholders in a matrixed environment will be considered an asset
