The Role

The Opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for Marketing Specialist to be based in Japan to join our Marketing team on a full time basis.

 Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the role of Marketing Specialist will contribute to the development and execution of strategic and operational marketing activities, including consumer communication, new product launches, and brand plan implementation. This role will collaborate closely with the marketing director, commercial team, and external partners such as distributors, and global partners to deliver impactful marketing campaigns and programs that drive business growth.

 The incumbent will leverage strong data analytical skills to optimize marketing initiatives and ensure alignment with brand and business goals. This role will also support the identification of local market opportunities and contribute to initiatives that enhance brand presence and consumer engagement.

  Key accountabilities and performance indicators include:

 1. Strategic Planning and Innovation

  • Develop local or adapt global communication assets for target consumer segments.
  • Identify, recommend, and lead locally relevant new product development opportunities.
  • Partner with the global team to identify, qualify, and drive new product innovation ideas.
  • Leverage market dynamics and consumer insights to create innovative marketing plans in collaboration with the marketing director.
  • Identify strategic opportunities to grow brand leadership in core segments and channels.

2. Campaign Development and Execution

  • Plan and execute media strategies, leveraging data analytics for monitoring and optimization.
  • Design and implement campaigns and programs to enhance brand image among target segments.
  • Develop and deliver the communication creatives along with the brand strategy,
  • Drive activity management from concept to launch, ensuring excellence in execution.
  • Conduct marketing program qualification, supported by research where applicable.

3. Consumer Insights and Data Analytics

  • Manage insight generation and data analytics to better understand target group needs.
  • Work closely with research and agency partners to support data-driven advertising, promotions, and sponsorship programs.

4. Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment and support for marketing plans.
  • Communicate with all levels of the organization to secure buy-in and reflect business needs in marketing strategies.

5. Performance and Operational Excellence

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies and business plans to drive sales and market share in alignment with the marketing director.
  • Ensure completion of marketing department operational requirements.

Ideal Profile

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in consumer marketing, preferably in FMCG, Consumer Health (OTC), or advertising agencies.
  • Experience in communication development and media planning, including digital advertising.
  • Proven project management skills, including budget handling.
  • Work experience in a Japanese company with international operations or a multinational company based in Japan is preferred.
  • Fluent in Japanese and business-level English (both written and spoken).
  • Strong interest in competitive market dynamics, including new product launches and communication strategies.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and self-development.
