Job Description

Recruiting Solutions by Deborah Zsebok is recruiting for a Full Time MATERIALS LEAD on behalf of our client located in Oldcastle/Windsor, Ontario. All applicants must currently have a valid Canadian Social Insurance Number AND be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen to apply.

Location: Oldcastle / Windsor, Ontario

Shift: Onsite (Monday – Friday) 40 hours/week

Start: ASAP – Direct Hire permanent on client payroll

Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000/year based on experience

Salary, extended health benefits, vacation, deferred profit-sharing with employer match up to 5%, company bonus plan

Summary:

The Materials Lead will ensure a seamless supply and allocation of materials necessary for production while minimizing costs and maximizing productivity and profitability. You will mentor and share your expertise with others on the team.

Required Experience for a Full Time MATERIALS LEAD includes:

  • Must have 3+ years materials management experience in a low volume, high mix, product assembly environment.
  • College Diploma in Supply Chain Management (preferred), Manufacturing or Operations.
  • Have 3+ years of experience as a forklift/lift truck operator.
  • Experience working in controlled environments (cleanroom environment to prevent dust/particles from entering the product).
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience leading a small materials team.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP software – you will be supporting the procurement of materials by updating purchasing on stock levels including manual counts and computer updates to avoid over stocking and shortages.
  • Strong working knowledge and application of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, ISO9001, Continuous Improvement, standard work and value stream mapping.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Responsibilities for a Full Time MATERIALS LEAD include:

  • Support the development of business processes, value streams, and procedures related to materials supply, storage, delivery to production, final packaging and shipment of finished product to meet both business and ISO requirements.
  • Oversee daily supply of materials to meet production goals of finished good including shipping and receiving.
  • Co-ordinate movement of components and materials in accordance with production needs.
  • Support procurement of materials and components to meet production needs.
  • Identify and contribute to resolving materials supply concerns related to component defects, equipment failures, downtime and other related materials delays.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and other operational processes.
  • Ensure equipment, machinery and shipping/receiving area is safe and operational.
  • Supervise materials staff ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Provide training to materials staff and promote problem-solving among materials team.
  • Perform administrative duties, maintain records and support materials reporting.
  • Co-ordinate with other departments to optimize efficient flow of components and goods.
  • Attend and contribute to production meetings and other meetings as appropriate.

Hours and Compensation for a Full Time MATERIALS LEAD:

  • Monday – Friday 40 hours/week (day shift)
  • $55,000 - $65,000/year based on experience and education
