Network Support Specialist @ Technology Services (Internal employees must use the internal link to login and apply.) Primary Purpose: Assist the Manager of Network Services and Network Services team in the implementation, operations, support, and maintenance of all district networks, network systems, and related technologies. The area of focus will primarily involve acting as part of an implementation/execution team on projects and tasks directed by the planning team and as network operations. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in computer science or an equivalent field preferred Certifications in related field such as MCSE, Network+, Security+ or equivalent preferred Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledgeable of desktop operating systems, server operating systems, network topologies, Active Directory, network protocols, wireless technologies, authentication methods, mobile technologies, malware prevention, virtualization technologies, backup systems, disaster recovery practices, and network media and components. Thorough understanding of network layers and Client/Server technologies, such as email, file sharing, patching and updating systems, network management systems, deployment methods, file structures, and database systems. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties: Network Support Perform all network duties as assigned by the Manager of Network Services. Provide assistance as needed to the Network Services team. Provide assistance in execution, implementation, deployment, and support of network service related software and hardware technologies utilized in the district. Maintain and support all LAN/WAN based network components which include but is not limited to the following: Network devices and components Network elated audio visual systems Storage systems Backup systems Security systems both physical and network related File and print systems Other network appliances Network physical media and components Manage technical projects through from start to completion while guiding and utilizing execution team resources. Act as Network Team first point of contact in on-call and after-hours situations. Technical Support Perform diagnosis as well as repair of all network related problems that arise regarding any LAN/MAN/WAN based technology. Provide assistance in installation, configuration, and maintenance of all network components with guidance from senior members of the Network Services team. Act as Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for network issues when appropriate. Other Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
