Job Description

Rapyuta Robotics, an ETH Zurich spin-off, operates with the goal of making robots more accessible to anyone in the logistics industry. Rapyuta Robotics seeks individuals who believe that collaborative work leads to more effective and sustainable outcomes and are fearless in challenging limits—whether within themselves or in their surroundings—to make a dent in the universe.

In this role, you will build and lead our field engineering crew for the deployments of our ASRS systems across Japan. Partnering closely with project managers, you will spearhead deployment planning and execution to drive QCD excellence. Serve as the bidirectional link between development and field engineering—ensuring SOPs and product updates reach the field and relaying on‑site insights back into product and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach and support a team of field engineers across deployment squads—driving adoption of standardized processes, tracking key KPIs, and ensuring SOPs capture and codify best practices.
  • Represent field engineering in Development and system‑level planning—collaborating with product and system teams to advocate operational feasibility, feedback on‑site insights, and resolve recurring deployment challenges.
  • Collaborate with project managers and consultants to validate deployment plans, assess field readiness, and design targeted training and mentorship to close capability or knowledge gaps.
  • Shape and scale the field engineering function by defining onboarding and career‑growth paths, participating in recruitment and reviews, enhancing documentation and tooling, and fostering alignment with company values.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Industry Experience: 5+ years in field engineering or technical deployment roles within robotics, automation, or a closely related industry—hands‑on with ASRS/AMR systems, on‑site commissioning, and issue resolution.
  • Leadership & Coaching: Proven track record leading, mentoring, and developing technical teams; driving adoption of standardized processes, tracking KPIs, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Educational Background & Technical Expertise: Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, or similar) with practical knowledge of SOP development, Kaizen methodologies, and SAFe/Agile practices.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written skills in Japanese and English; adept at liaising between field teams, project managers, and development squads; willing to travel frequently across Japan.

※Job Location: Tokyo, on-site work will be required for enabling field engineers on-site
