Polytechnics Canada is the voice of leading research-intensive, publicly funded polytechnics and institutes of technology. On their behalf, we advocate for federal action related to innovation and skills.

Polytechnic education is technical, hands-on and applied. Polytechnic institutions allow students to learn alongside industry professionals, to industry standards, using industry equipment. Qualifications & Attributes:

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field of study
• At least three years of experience working in policy advocacy or government relations, preferably within a non-profit environment
• High degree of political acumen and awareness
• Ability to draft and edit persuasive content
• Self-disciplined and detail-oriented
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Consistently looks to grow themselves and their contributions in pursuit of the organization’s interests

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Communicates policy objectives and positions in a variety of formats, including policy papers, opinion pieces, briefs and in-person, with close attention to accuracy and detail
• Monitors a wide variety of academic and non-academic sources to build a strong knowledge of the policy portfolio and peripheral issues
• Reads, synthesizes and shares insights from those sources with a view to putting data and information into context, drawing conclusions and identifying policy opportunities
• In coordination with the policy team, works with internal and external stakeholders and government/political officials to develop actionable policy solutions that advance the objectives of Polytechnics Canada and its members
• Oversees meeting agendas, summary notes and next steps for assigned member working groups
• Organizes and participates at meetings with government officials and politicians with a view to building relationships and influencing policy

Pay:

• $65,000 - $70,000
