Job Description

We are looking for a Power Electronics Engineer to join our team. In your capacity as Power Electronics Engineer , you will work as part of a cross-functional team to develop new products and support an existing portfolio. You will play a critical role in the New Product Development (NPD) and Product Customization Order (PCO) processes, designing, prototyping, testing and launching lighting and lighting adjacent products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create schematics and PCB designs for LED lighting products with Altium Designer 365.
  • Simulate and analyze circuits by using appropriate software (LTspice and similar).
  • Develop firmware in C/C++.
  • Design and develop power electronic circuits such as DC-DC converters and AC-DC converters using the common circuit topologies such as buck, boost, flyback, resonant, and PFC converters.
  • Consider factors influencing product design such as cost, selection of materials, production methods, component availability, new technologies, safety, compliant with applicable standards (UL, IEC etc.) and the environment.
  • Collaborate with mechanical design engineering team in developing complete lighting fixtures and power-data equipment.
  • Participate in Engineering and Manufacturing design reviews to evaluate design concepts.
  • Test developed designs for safety, performance targets and EMC/EMI compliance.
  • Execute full New Product Introduction (NPI) process, including prototyping, verification and validation processes.
  • Implement Product Customization Orders (PCOs) and Engineering Changes (ECs), ensuring on time completion of activities.
  • Refine existing product portfolio through a process of continuous improvement.
  • Work with Process Engineering and Manufacturing teams to investigate and resolve issues with existing designs.
  • Stay up to date with emerging design tools, software, and trends to enhance design capabilities and efficiency.
  • Work with the GVA Lighting Quality Management System and related design and development procedures and standards.
  • Develop and document products appropriately and ensure knowledge transfer from design to manufacturing, testing and RMA teams: arrange design review and training meetings, create design manuals, production files, maintain BOM and design revisions.
  • Report on project progress, follow and maintain project timelines.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Electronics Engineering with a focus on power electronics.
  • 3+ years experience creating electronic schematics and PCB designs.
  • 3+ years experience in firmware development.
  • Solid foundation in AC-DC and DC-DC conversion techniques.
  • Solid foundation in circuit analysis, circuit protection and validation/compliance testing (ESD, EFT, Surge, EMC, EMI etc.)
  • Proficiency with Altium 365.
