The QA Testing Analyst - Alberta reporting to the QA Team Lead - Alberta is based in the Sherwood Park location. The QA Testing Analyst - Alberta is responsible for executing and supporting the organization’s QA processes, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions. The QA Testing Analyst plays a key role in analyzing requirements, creating and executing test cases, and identifying defects to maintain software reliability and functionality.
Responsibilities Testing and Execution
- Perform manual and automated testing to identify defects, bugs, and issues in software applications.
- Develop, document, and execute detailed test cases, scripts, and plans.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, user acceptance (UAT), and exploratory testing.
- Identify, record, document, and track software defects.
- Work closely with development teams to validate bug fixes and perform retesting.
- Ensure that testing activities meet business requirements and project deadlines.
Defect Management and Quality Assurance
- Analyze and document defects, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement.
- Perform root cause analysis to aid in defect resolution.
- Ensure accurate reporting of issues and risks.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with operational management, developers, business analysts, and project managers to understand system functionality and user needs.
- Ensure that software meets user needs and complies with quality standards.
- Provide clear and concise test reports, including status updates and issue tracking.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement discussions.
Process Improvement and Documentation
- Assist in maintaining and refining QA processes, procedures, and standards.
- Staying updated on the latest testing tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Continuously seek ways to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintain test documentation, including test cases, test scripts, and reports.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of experience in software quality assurance and testing.
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (Github, Jira, HP ALM, TestRail, etc.).
- Knowledge of various testing types, including functional, regression, and UAT.
- Ability to analyze requirements and create effective test cases.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps testing environments is a plus.
- QA certifications (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) are preferred but not required.
- Intermediate skill with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) is required.
- Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills is required.
- Eagerness to learn and grow professionally.
- Successful completion of a credit check, criminal background check, education verification, and employment reference checks are required before employment.
