We are looking to hire a Research Analyst to join our growing team, a full-time position based in our Vancouver office. Reporting to the Research Director, the Research Analyst will be a key resource in driving insights and shaping recommendations to our clients, from mining and analyzing data to performing primary market research into perception and reputation of place. The Research Analyst will also help drive the data collection and insights behind our Best Cities reports that enhance both economic prosperity and quality of life for communities in the destinations we serve. 

Specific duties and responsibilities include:  

  • Collects and analyzes key third-party statistics and produces, charts, reports and presentations with respect to the livability of cities, economic development, tourism, and real estate
  • Conducts, analyzes and produces high quality work requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed methodology
  • Synthesizes large amounts of information and communicates key findings clearly and concisely
  • Contributes to the the development, deployment, analysis, and reporting of online surveys and other quantitative research programs for clients
  • Contributes to research articles, marketing materials, and reports
  • Supports research projects of varying complexity utilizing knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Works closely with the team to carry out all phases of research activities
  • Manages project resources, including assets from client and internal documents
  • Other duties, as required

Who We’re Looking For:

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years experience in an analytics role or Master’s degree with a specialization in data analytics, social sciences, economics, statistics, or related field
  • Strong quantitative skills and an aptitude for numbers - you’re comfortable working with data to identify trends and insights and are fluent in Excel or Google Sheets. 
  • Experience with data visualization and are comfortable telling a story with data. 
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and possesses finely-tuned skills in data collection and compiling information
  • Familiarity with publicly available data sources (e.g. U.S. Census, Statistics Canada and more) and data platforms such as EMSI Lightcast, ESRI, CoStar and others is a plus.
  • A passion for, or experience in, placemaking, cities, tourism and travel, economic development, and real estate development
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; other languages are an asset

Bonus attributes:

  • Experience in GIS
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as R or Python
  • Experience in database management

Location: Vancouver, BC

Compensation: Estimated pay range is $65,000 - $80,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
