The Senior Scientist will also lead a team of Scientists and Technicians, ensuring critical deadlines are met while delivering exceptional service to clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage multiple projects, developing cost-effective, stable consumer products that align with customer expectations and project requirements (processing parameters, ingredient functionality, costs, regulatory compliance, and flavor profiles).
  • Independently develop formulations from concept to production scale-up.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing training and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Conduct laboratory tests to troubleshoot technical challenges, ensuring product stability, quality, and safety standards are met.
  • Perform sensory evaluations and prototype testing alongside the Applications and Flavor teams to maintain product consistency and quality.
  • Oversee and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, ensuring everything is in proper working condition.
  • Research and evaluate new and alternative ingredients for product formulations.
  • Leverage internal and external resources to enhance project execution and improve team expertise.
  • Scale up lab-scale formulations to pilot and full-scale production.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support commercialization and scale-up processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10–15 years of experience in product development within the food & beverage industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food science principles, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Expertise in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety, and quality control procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with keen attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams, clients, and senior leadership.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of food and beverage testing techniques, equipment, and procedures.
