Job Description

We have a rare and unique opening for a Sr. Data & Agronomy Engineer who will champion the design, build, and optimization of scalable, cloud-based agronomym, and remote sensing data pipelines and AI/ML models. You will collaborate with scientists, agronomists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to develop robust ETL processes, manage large geospatial and agronomic datasets, and facilitate the deployment of AI-driven insights.

What You’ll Do:

• Data Engineering: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for efficient data ingestion, processing, and storage, to support machine leaning model development and deployment
• Develop and Deploy Agronomic Machine Learning Models : Using a wide range of statistical and machine learning techniques, you will analyze data from various sources and build/maintain agronomic models such Growth Stages, Yield Predictions, etc.
• Report on Model Performance : By participating in regular team meetings, and collaborating with teams across the organization, you will convey model performance and limitations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders,
• Documentation and Testing : You will create documentation for testing and development procedures and troubleshoot and resolve issues with deployed models to ensure accurate and consistent results

What We’re Looking For:

• Post-secondary education in a related field, preferably Data Science, Computer Science or Mathematics
• 5+ years’ experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines for efficient data ingestion, processing, and storage
• 4+ years of experience in developing and deploying AI/Machine Learning models in an MLOps production environment
• Previous experience working with and developing models using agricultural datasets such as weather, agronomy, remote sensing and satellite imagery
• General understanding of agronomic principles, including crop types, growth stages, disease modeling, and yield predictions
• Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to simply convey complex information
• Working proficiency with the following technologies:
• Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes and tools (e.g. Apache Airflow, Luigi, Dataflow)
• Cloud-based data storage and processing solutions (e.g. Google Cloud BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub)
• Machine learning platforms (e.g. TensorFlow Extended (TFX), Kubeflow, or Vertex AI in GCP)
• Python programming and relevant data science libraries (e.g. Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow)
• Structured query language (SQL)
• Revision control software (e.g. Git)
