Job Description

Accounting & Tax Professionals is seeking an experienced Tax Preparer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background preparing tax returns in a professional environment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to provide exceptional customer service. If you are looking for a challenging role where you can utilize your knowledge helping individuals and businesses navigate the complexities of tax preparation and planning, this is the position for you. This job could be seasonal for the right person.

Please note that this is NOT a remote position. You will be required to work on-site at our office location as we encourage our clients to meet with us in person.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct a complete, comprehensive interview of clients to ensure all information needed is collected.
  • Preparation of tax returns ranging from simple to complex.
  • Identify potential tax saving opportunities, deductions and credits.
  • Identify future tax saving opportunities.
  • Ability to research complex tax situations.
  • Review accuracy of prior year tax returns and identify potential opportunities.
  • Ability to breakdown the tax return for the client to ensure they understand their current results.
  • Work with Accounting Staff to complete books in order to prepare accurate returns for our business clients.
  • Assist other staff members with IRS and State tax audits.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Recognize and offer better and more efficient ways of performing your job and assisting clients in performing theirs.
  • Additional duties as needed and assigned.

 

Qualifications:  

  • 2+ years verifiable tax preparation experience in a professional environment. 
  • Ability to handle multiple clients concurrently
  • Strong organizational and time management skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness 
  • Ability to set priorities and complete tasks despite interruptions 
  • Experience with professional Tax Preparation Software (we use Lacerte)
  • Experience with Xero, Quickbooks Desktop, Quickbooks Online is a plus but not required.
  • Proficient with MS/Office.
