TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION WRITER- Aurora, ON

Client offers a full range of services in the industry of roofing and building envelopes.

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Communicate with owners, property managers, contractors and investigators to ensure that all required information is obtained to prepare the specifications and in a timely manner.
• Assist with the tendering and inspection process.
• Conduct site visits & perform core cut prior to writing the specifications
• Select an appropriate roof system
• Write specifications and create CAD drawings for all roof detail
• Create all documents pertaining to the project i.e. Contract Documents, Change Orders, etc.
• Create addendums (if necessary)
• Develop contractor list for projects (with authorization of the President or Vice President)
• Prepare tender documents
• Upload completed documents to the online system
• Ensure that tenders are accessible to owners
• Maintain tender result database
• Attend pre-tender meetings
• Aid in the conversion to Master Format
• Maintain specifications & drawings library
• Attend courses on specification writing
• Conduct research to source new products and systems
• Address customer concerns and provide solutions to problems
• Keep up to date with changes to the Building Codes

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Working knowledge of Roof CAD
• Working knowledge of the construction industry
• Working knowledge of the Building Codes
• Engineering degree or equivalent
• Building Science Specialist of Ontario (BSSO) designation or Registered Specification Writer (RSW) designation or working towards either designation
• May require travel and overnight stay outside of the usual work area
• May be required to attend company events outside of regular hours of work
