mcCallumSather is looking to enhance our production team with an additional intermediate technologist to assist the Product Document Lead on a multitude of creative projects. The successful candidate will be excited for the opportunity to work with the design and technical production teams in the development of detailed design and construction documents with a focus on providing high quality documentation. As a member of the team, the Intermediate Technologist will actively work on select projects alongside the Production Document Lead and act as a critical support to our technical team members including our outsourcing partners. Reporting to the Production Document Lead for deliverables, the Intermediate Technologist will fulfill an essential role in the office assisting in the preparation of contract documents, primarily utilizing BIM (Revit) to ensure a high level of quality, coordination and compliance with industry and the firms’ standards. Work Location can either be in Hamilton, Kitchener or Toronto.

SKILL REQUIREMENT

• Relevant work experience as a Technologist with emphasis in the production of contract documents including consultant coordination
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage others in open dialogue in a positive and learning manner
• Strong proficiency with BIM (Revit) and a satisfactory grasp of AutoCAD
• Knowledge and understanding of Architectural standards, construction technologies and practice
• Understanding and knowledge of current building systems, materials and all codes in practice (OBC, NFPA) current in the province of Ontario
• Knowledge of building sciences and detailing to develop and coordinate contract documents including specifications
• A clear understanding and application of sustainable design principles and high-performance envelope detailing
• Solid understanding of construction and sequencing of work
• Dedicated to meeting project deadlines
• LEED accreditation (GA., BD+C) an asset

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the production of Contract Documents
• Coordination of consultant documents, building systems interface and provide meaningful feedback to the team members
• Ability to work independently as well as work with other staff members on the construction document production team
• Ensure CAD / Revit Standards, quality assurance and quality control procedures are followed during drawing planning and production
• Review specifications and work with the team(s) in understanding the coordination processes between drawing production, detailing and specifications
• Inform the BIM processes and development of Revit Families. BIM is the office software of choice for mcCallumSather with AutoCAD assisting in a minor role or on small projects

SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE

It is essential to have a strong skill base in the utilization of the following software:

• BIM (Revit)
• AutoCAD
• MS Word
• MS Excel
• Microsoft Project

PREFERRED SECTOR EXPERIENCE

• Experience with multi-unit, multi-storey residential, healthcare, research labs, post-secondary institutions, municipal facilities, transit and operational facilities, heritage facilities
• A clear understanding of sustainable design principles and demonstrated delivery of projects that exemplify these principles
• Experience working on renovations, new construction, heritage and LEED projects

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES

• 4+ years of regional professional experience
• Strong Revit modelling and working drawing production skills with family creation (both detail and parametric model) an asset
• Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code
• Possession of a solid understanding of Design, Construction Documents and Contract Administration process with a strong focus and understanding of building detailing
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Highly motivated individual who works independently
• Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and amicable manner
• Rigorous attention to detail and accuracy with problem solving being an incredible asset

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION / LICENSING / CERTIFICATION

Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution or Architectural Technology

Eligibility for licensing or certification in the following: OAA, PEO, AATO
