Position: Temporary Mortgage Underwriter
Hours: Full-Time, Schedule will be between 8am-6pm Overtime paid
Location: Remote- Must reside in FL, GA, TX, SC, NC
Candidate must have underwritten within the past 9 months
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Temporary Mortgage Underwriter to join our team on a full-time basis. As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a critical role in assessing and evaluating mortgage loan applications to ensure they meet company guidelines and regulatory requirements. This position requires extensive experience in manually underwriting loans.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze mortgage loan applications to assess risk and ensure compliance with company policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Verify accuracy and completeness of loan documentation and financial information.
- Conduct thorough analysis of borrower credit, income, assets, and collateral.
- Make sound underwriting decisions and provide clear explanations for loan approvals or denials.
- Communicate effectively with loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and facilitate timely loan closings.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry regulations and underwriting guidelines.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Mortgage Underwriter with expertise in manually underwriting loans.
- In-depth knowledge of mortgage lending practices, guidelines, and regulations.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or designation in mortgage underwriting (e.g., NAMP Certified Mortgage Underwriter, CMU).
- Experience working with Encompass
- Familiarity with FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional loan programs.
- Most recent experience must have been as a front line Underwriter
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and Drug test.
- Experience working remotely and managing time effectively.
- Knowledge of FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional loan programs.
Duration: This position is temporary, with an expected duration of 6 months with possibility of perm.
