Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosauneeand the Wendat Peoples, the RTA School of Media in The Creative School at Toronto Metropolitan University [www.torontomu.ca] (formerly Ryerson University) invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor effective January 1, 2026, subject to final budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will engage in a combination of teaching, scholarly research or creative activity and service duties while maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across all activities. Teaching duties will entail teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervision of students and/or curriculum development. The successful candidate will be engaged in, and pursue a strong program of scholarly research and/or creative activity.
Candidates must hold a Masters degree in Media and/or Communications or a closely related field by the appointment date, along with relevant experience, outlined below.
We are seeking an individual skilled in video-based production with experience in broadcast and/or live event multi-camera video/television production. The successful candidate will possess a track record of hands-on television production and/or technical production experience with demonstrated skills in multi-camera production. Experience in single-camera production techniques and virtual production/ esports is also an asset. The successful candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of the past, present, and emerging production technologies, and their application in modes of production across various media platforms.
Candidates must have teaching experience at the University or College level and at least five years of recent professional practice in video-based production.
Courses to teach may include: RTA 211 - ProductionTheory; RTA 213 - Production: Introduction to Multi-Camera; RTA 313 - Production: Intermediate Multi-camera; RTA 314 - Production: Intermediate Single-Camera; RTA 969- Television Technical Producing; RTA 802 - Production: Advanced Live Multi-camera; RTA 330 - Advanced Live Sport Production; RTA 701- Thesis: Production Project.
