Overview:

WRAL, the leading television station in the Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville market, is looking for a talented News Producer to create engaging, visually dynamic, and fast-paced newscasts.   • Newscast Production:
    Develop and organize content for visually compelling and fast-paced newscasts.
    Write clear, accurate, and engaging scripts for anchors, reporters, and other contributors.
    Select and prioritize stories, ensuring a balance of breaking news, local content, and feature segments.
    Coordinate video, graphics, and live elements to enhance storytelling and visual appeal.
  • Content Planning:
    Collaborate with reporters, assignment editors, and other producers to plan coverage and story development.
    Stay informed of breaking news and updates, adjusting the newscast lineup as needed.
    Maintain a focus on delivering news that is relevant and impactful to the local community.
  • Live Broadcast Execution:
    Oversee the control room during live broadcasts, ensuring smooth transitions and timely updates.
    Respond quickly to breaking news and make real-time adjustments to the broadcast.
    Ensure compliance with station policies and industry standards.
  • Team Collaboration:
    Work closely with the news director, anchors, reporters, and production staff to ensure consistent quality.
    Foster a positive and collaborative environment within the newsroom.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred.
    • Proven experience in broadcast news, preferably as a producer or in a similar role.
  • Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong writing and storytelling skills with an emphasis on accuracy and clarity.
    • Ability to multitask and thrive under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency with newsroom software, editing systems, and social media platforms.
    • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Personal Attributes:

    • Creative and resourceful, with a passion for journalism and storytelling.
    • Strong news judgment and the ability to prioritize effectively.
    • Calm under pressure, with excellent problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Journalism is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years working as a live TV News Producer preferred.

  • Hearing Acuity: Ability to listen to newsroom communications, live feeds, and control room instructions.
  • Moving Around the Newsroom: Occasional walking to coordinate with team members, reporters, and production staff.
  • Standing for Meetings: Periodic standing during team briefings or while overseeing live broadcasts.
  • Stress Management: Ability to remain calm and focused during breaking news or high-pressure situations.
  • Multitasking: Simultaneously managing multiple tasks, including script adjustments, live updates, and team coordination.
