Video Editor & Studio Manager

Salary: $45,000 - $50,000

*NOTE! This position requires working on-site at our North Bay studio. Remote or hybrid options are not available.

About Magic vs. Machine (MVM):

Magic vs. Machine is an innovative, boutique advertising agency. We are currently constructing a commercial video production studio to create captivating content that merges creativity with cutting-edge technology. We're looking for a skilled Video Editor & Studio Manager to join our team and help shape compelling stories in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Role Overview:

You’ll lead the production process, from initial concept and shooting to final edits, while managing day-to-day studio operations. If you're detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about visual storytelling, this role offers an exciting opportunity to grow professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Production: Collaborate on concept development, script breakdowns, and creating shot lists. Coordinate equipment, scheduling, and logistics.
  • Production: Report to the founder and director to help oversee filming, manage on-set equipment (camera, audio, lighting), and support the production team to ensure seamless shoots.
  • Post-Production: Edit footage into polished videos optimized for digital and social platforms. Perform basic color correction, audio editing, and implement motion graphics.
  • Studio Management: Maintain equipment, manage studio scheduling, and coordinate with external vendors and freelancers.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all video content meets brand standards and technical requirements.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Film/Media or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro (Final Cut Pro), knowledge of After Effects or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Experience with camera operation, lighting, and sound equipment.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to North Bay, Ontario.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work based on production schedules.
