Job summary

The Dispatcher is responsible for supporting and monitoring all road activities performed by truck drivers during the shift. Your role is to assign routes and loads to truckers, monitor their progress and ensure on-time deliveries, while responding to unforeseen challenges such as traffic disruptions or inclement weather. In addition, you will maintain effective communication with truckers, customers and other departments to streamline logistics and contribute to the efficient and reliable operation of our trucking services.

Location : Training will take place in Laval. Once training is completed, the role will be performed in Mont-Royal, Quebec.

Schedule : 6 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday

Job type: Full-time, Permanent

Compensation: $60,000.00 to $65,000.00 per year

Job description

• Optimize truck drivers' schedules to improve productivity, reduce unnecessary mileage and increase yield.
• Supervise incoming calls to ensure clear and efficient communication
• Be the main point of contact for truck drivers regarding their schedule and availability
• Coordinate with maintenance and operations departments to ensure availability of required equipment
• Assign equipment to upcoming shipments to meet customer needs
• Communicate with truckers to ensure that delivery appointments meet deadlines
• Allocate trailers according to customer needs
• Complete customer declarations and tracking sheets, as required
• Participate in trucker dispatching, as required
• Perform other job-related tasks

Skills required

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English
• Experience in transportation and logistics -REQUIREMENTS
• Knowledge or experience of the trucking industry - REQUIRED
• Effective management of several projects and tasks simultaneously
• 1 to 2 years planning and management experience required
• Problem-solving and ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment
• Proficiency in software such as Windows Outlook, Microsoft Excel and MS Office
• Organization of weekly meetings with drivers to discuss company and customer objectives and concerns
• Knowledge of A1T is an added advantage
