Bancroft is located in Worcester, Massachusetts — a thriving city with a rich history and a bright future in which the School is deeply invested. Founded in 1900, Bancroft School will celebrate its 125th school year in 2024-25. The 30-acre campus sits in a scenic residential neighborhood just north of downtown. Guided by strategic plan BluePrint125and new Head of School, Stephanie Luebbers, who began her tenure in July of 2023, Bancroft is poised to continue to lead in PreK-12 education.

Position Summary
Bancroft School is seeking a passionate and skilled Lower School Spanish Teacher to teach students in grades 1-4, effective immediately. This is a part-time position (approximately 15 hours per week) designed to introduce young learners to the Spanish language while fostering cultural awareness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach Spanish to students in grades 1-4, creating an engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
• Develop and implement a dynamic age-appropriate curriculum, ideally using a Comprehensible Input (CI) approach to language instruction.
• Foster students’ curiosity about different cultures and support their early language acquisition.
• Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Spanish language learning into the broader Lower School curriculum.
• Communicate regularly with families about students’ progress and classroom experiences.

Qualifications:

• Fluent in Spanish (spoken and written); native speakers preferred but not required.
• Teaching experience at the elementary level and a strong background in the Spanish language.
• Passion for working with young children and making language learning engaging and accessible.
• Ability to create and adapt curriculum that aligns with best practices in early language acquisition.
• Strong flexibility, creativity, and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive classroom environment.
