Location: Montreal, QC (Primary) with occasional travel to Ottawa (1 to 2 days a year)

Job Overview

We are seeking a Network Administrator to support the network at our end-client's Montreal HQ, with responsibilities extending to Ottawa and future expansion to Halifax. This role will involve network configuration, troubleshooting, security administration, and on-site IT support. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco switches, be comfortable handling level 2 network administration tasks, and be able to work within a NATO-restricted security environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco switches within the Orange network.
• Configure VLANs, firewall rules, and network settings based on engineering user requests.
• Monitor and respond to network incidents, ensuring timely issue resolution.
• Coordinate with Ottawa IT staff remotely for troubleshooting and onsite issue resolution.
• Occasional travel to Ottawa (1-2 times per year) to support on-site network activities.
• Assist the network team in investigating on-site network issues (e.g., Wi-Fi outages, dead spots, physical network activity).
• Provide on-site support to service providers installing fibre or networking infrastructure.
• Manage and facilitate network troubleshooting across various network closets in the facility.
• Contribute to level 2 network administration tasks, including request backlog management and general network support.

Qualifications:

• Canada Enhanced Reliability Clearance (Mandatory) – NATO Restricted
• Must be fluent in French
• 5+ years of experience in network administration or IT infrastructure support.
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco switches.
• Strong knowledge of VLAN configuration, firewall policies, and network security.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving network incidents with minimal external monitoring.
• Ability to coordinate with remote IT teams and relay technical instructions effectively.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative in a high-security environment.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with engineering teams, IT staff, and external providers.
• Willingness to travel to Ottawa occasionally (1-2 times per year) for network alignment.
