Job Title: Policy and Regulatory Affairs Advisor
Position: Full-time, permanent (37.5 hours a week); Desired start date of June 1, 2025, or earlier.
Reports to: CEO
Location: Remote, with some in-person meetings required. A preference will be given to those in the National Capital Region.
Travel Required: Limited, within Canada

Overview:
Food and Beverage Canada – Aliments et boissons Canada (FBC-ABC), a leading industry association representing the Canadian food and beverage manufacturing industry, is seeking a Policy and Regulatory Affairs Advisor to join our team. This role will be instrumental in implementing our 2025-2027 Strategic Plan, with a focus on expanding our policy, regulatory, and advocacy efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
The Policy and Regulatory Affairs Advisor will work closely with the CEO, the Policy and Advocacy Committee, and external stakeholders to advance FBC-ABC's policy priorities. The role includes:
1) Policy Development and Regulatory Support (75%)
- Support the implementation of FBC-ABC's policy priorities, focusing on key areas such as labour, productivity, competitiveness, sustainability and regulatory effectiveness.
- Analyze policy and regulatory issues impacting the food and beverage manufacturing industry, and develop position papers, policy briefs, and recommendations, in consultation with FBC-ABC's members.
- Shape federal legislative and regulatory frameworks, participating in consultations and working groups, ensuring FBC-ABC's views are well-represented.
- Supporting quarterly meetings of the Board of Directors.
2) Advocacy Support (25%)
- Support the planning and execution of Advocacy Days, coordinating Board of Directors and Committee participation in key advocacy initiatives.
- Coordinate and support the work of the Policy and Advocacy Committee, helping to convene meetings, draft agendas, and track progress toward policy objectives.
- Collaborate with the provincial and regional member associations to align advocacy efforts, ensuring a unified voice on federal-provincial policy issues.
- Supporting FBC-ABC's annual events.
3) Other duties as required
Key Qualifications:
· A minimum of 3 years experience in policy development and/or regulatory affairs, preferably within the food and beverage, agriculture, and/or manufacturing industries.
· A strong understanding of the federal regulatory environment, and experience shaping policy outcomes.
· *** Bilingualism is required for this position.
· Strong communication and writing skills (English and French), with the ability to draft policy briefs, position papers, and regulatory submissions.
· The ability to manage multiple stakeholders, build consensus, and foster productive relationships with members and stakeholders.
· The ability to work independently.
Additional Information:
· This position offers remote work, with in-person attendance required on occasion for meetings and events (limited).
· Travel to other locations within Canada may be required on occasion.
