Position Description: Reporting to the Founder, the Production & Marketing Assistant will help with product development, creation, outreach and marketing activities. The position will have one direct report.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sort and prepare waste plastic for injection moulding
  • Create products
  • Package products for sale and shipping
  • Assist with social media, marketing and outreach including creating content and working closely with our marketing agency
  • Assist to design prototype products - from concept to computer assisted design (CAD) to testing
  • Managing sales, working at markets periodically
  • Testing CAD projects with resin printed moulds: creating the mould design, monitor the print, test injection mould the project
  • Assist in updating webpage and blog
  • Assist with client relationship development and management
  • Assist in creating promotional video - content and editing
  • Other tasks as assigned
  • $23 per hour / 32 hours per week

Requirements:

  • Committed to upholding and modeling the standards set out in the organization’s vision and mission, and other operating standards and policies such as our safe work policy
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Ability to work independently, use safe work practices, use PPE when required, be flexible, organized, responsible, and take initiative
  • Availability to attend scheduled events and training, such as workshops or WHIMS training
  • Prefer candidate with one or more of the following: creative, enthusiastic, solid oral / written communication skills
  • Prefer candidate with strong MS Office Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) along with CAD, Canva and video editing skills

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ideal candidate will have one or more in their background and experience: crafting, inventing, chemistry, physics, art making and / or building experience, a candidate attending college or university is an asset.
  • Candidate must qualify for age requirements and other eligibility requirements as set by Canada Summer Jobs:

- between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*
- a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment** and
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
*The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.

**International students are not eligible participants. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student's time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.

International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible., eligible to work in Canada, age 15 to 30.


This is a ten week position, 32 hours per week.
