Venor is proud to partner with GeoSpectrum Technologies Inc. (GTI) in their search for a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead to join their team.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and develop GTI’s marine and sonar products, systems, and processes, ensuring all specifications meet project requirements.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, providing technical guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and drive continuous improvement.
  • Participate in formal engineering design reviews, providing expert input and technical guidance.
  • Identify and analyze technical challenges, developing innovative solutions to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct tests and simulations to validate designs against performance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Manage tasks to ensure projects remain within scope, timeline, and budget constraints.
  • Anticipate, identify, mitigate, and report technical risks and roadblocks to technical leads and management.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and project management to achieve project goals.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of designs, tests, and modifications for compliance and verification.
  • Manage, compile, and present verification evidence for customer acceptance events.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and current industry trends to drive continuous innovation.
  • Contribute to occupational health and safety initiatives, performance reviews and training, and contribute to GTI’s Quality Management System.

About You

The ideal candidate holds a post-secondary degree in Engineering and brings over 10 years of hands-on experience, preferably within the defense, marine, or aerospace industries. A Professional Engineering (P.Eng) designation is required. The candidate must demonstrate strong proficiency in reading, interpreting, and producing technical drawings and specifications, with expertise in CAD software—ideally SolidWorks. A strong background in structural design, materials selection, manufacturing processes, corrosion protection, coatings, and powertrain design is highly valued. Proven experience in leading the development of new systems as well as enhancing existing systems is essential.

The successful candidate is a highly collaborative, results-driven professional with exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities. They are detail-oriented, organized, and adept at managing multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to take initiative, embrace accountability, and provide as well as receive constructive feedback. Above all, the ideal candidate values autonomy, drives execution, and contributes to a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.

Work Environment & Requirements

This role requires Canadian Government Reliability/Secret and Controlled Goods clearances, as well as a valid Canadian passport.

This position is based in Dartmouth, NS, and may require occasional international travel and offshore work. The role may involve lifting up to 40 lbs independently.
