Overall Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Planning and Analysis, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership and work cross-functionally across the organization to shape the strategic direction of the company. You will play a pivotal role in delivering detailed analyses that inform key business decisions, monitor performance metrics, and act as a strategic partner to various business units. Your insights will be regularly translated into impactful initiatives that address high-priority business challenges.

This role combines two main focus areas: understanding the current and future business landscape by working with segment leaders and developing financial models to support strategic decision-making.

This role offers a dynamic opportunity to influence the company's strategic direction through data-driven insights and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

Budgeting & Reforecasting:

  • Support the financial planning process for budgeting, reforecasting, and financial projections.
  • Quantify the financial impact of business initiatives, recommend options, and validate key assumptions.
  • Manage timelines, submissions, and scenario analyses for the budget and reforecast process.

Strategic Finance:

  • Partner cross-functionally with operational leaders and executives to provide analysis and recommendations on key strategic risks and opportunities.
  • Focus areas include capacity optimization, pricing strategies, raw material negotiations, margin optimization, sales initiatives, international growth, and production planning.

Strategic Planning & Analysis:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to drive performance against long-term company objectives.
  • Provide insights into business unit financial performance and manage expectations for external stakeholders, such as street analysts.
  • Identify performance variances and offer actionable recommendations to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks.

Financial & Strategic Analysis:

  • Deliver big-picture financial outlooks, analyzing risks and opportunities to provide strategic insights that drive decision-making.

Variance Analysis:

  • Perform in-depth analysis of monthly, quarterly, and yearly results compared to prior periods, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Provide explanations for variances and offer actionable recommendations for improvement.

Special Projects:

  • Contribute to mergers and acquisitions (M&A), global expansion initiatives, and improvements to decision-making processes.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements

  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CA an asset) with strong understanding of IFRS
  • Minimum one (1) years in a financial planning role
  • Exceptional analytic and financial analysis skills, ability to dig into detail without losing sight of the big picture
  • A passion for winning, a competitive nature and a drive for excellence and challenging the status quo
  • Experience with financial modelling and budgeting (detail/bottoms-up)
  • Excellent time management skills (ability to multitask and manage deadlines and multiple demands)
  • Exceptional skills in Microsoft Office applications – an Excel expert
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple deadlines and prioritize crucial deliverables
  • Domestic and international travel may be required
