Intermediate Graphic Designer

You’ll report to the Creative Director and collaborate with a dynamic team, including the Manager of Design & Production, Art Directors, Account Managers and Production Designers to design fundraising campaigns that are strategically sound, visually engaging, and flawlessly executed to meet specific marketing objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with diverse not-for-profit clients ranging from health to social and environmental causes
  • Receive and interpret execution briefs, have a basic understanding of marketing, strategy, target audience, positioning, etc. 
  • Execute creative concepts, bringing creativity and strategy to life through strong, contemporary graphic design 
  • Create visuals that inform, attract, educate, and move the audience to action 
  • Take design projects from brief to completion across integrated campaigns, including digital (display ads, social media assets, HTML emails, responsive landing pages) and print (direct mail packages, newsletters, inserts, and marketing collateral) 
  • Ensure technical excellence in production design through meticulous file preparation and pre-flight processes for both digital and print materials 
  • Maintain quality standards by conducting thorough checks, managing seamless file delivery to development teams, media vendors, and print partners, while ensuring consistent brand standards across all deliverables 
  • Format content across a wide range of mediums (primarily digital channels and direct mail), including
  • Collaborate with team members throughout the agency 
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines 
  • Stay on top of trends and maintain best practices 

 

NICE TO HAVES

  • Experience in health, social, environmental, or educational non-profit sectors is a plus, bringing valuable insight into our diverse range of clients/projects.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Adobe Animate, Canva and a basic understanding of HTML/CSS and/or CMS is not required but a welcomed bonus.

MUST HAVES

  • Minimum 5–8 years of proven working experience as a Graphic Designer in an agency setting, servicing multiple clients
  • Comprehensive portfolio showcasing BOTH print and digital projects, demonstrating impeccable design sense and consistent excellence across multiple campaigns
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat), Microsoft Office suite (Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook), Figma, and a bunch of other programs you may never use – but you’re that good!
  • Exceptional production skills, leveraging the above programs to produce technically accurate files for both digital and print production output, on par with best practice and the latest industry standards
  •  Proven expertise in current digital production standards (i.e., accessibility standards, social media & Google ad specs, email best practices, mobile first understanding, files sizes and formats, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously, leveraging exceptional organizational skills to manage competing deadlines and maintain quality deliverables in fast-paced environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to adapt to evolving project requirements
  • An eagle-eye for details
  • A positive attitude paired with excellent teamwork abilities, capable of collaborating effectively across various departments in a remote working environment
  • Post-secondary education in the creative arts/design field (Arts, Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design, or equivalent graphic design/art direction experience)

Salary Range: The starting salary range for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 , commensurate with experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental and vision care, 3 weeks’ vacation plus an additional 9.5 Blakely days off (half day Fridays before each long weekend and the office is closed for one week at the end of December each year).

Location: This is a location-flexible, work-from-home position for individuals residing in Ontario, or within 2 hours of EST. Maintaining a good working relationship is key to success, so we gather our entire team together 3 – 4 times a year in Aurora, ON. There will be department meetings or 1 on 1 meetings with your manager in person required throughout the year. For those that live 150KMs or more away from Aurora, ON we cover all travel expenses in line with Blakely’s travel policy. In addition, if you are in a client facing role, there will be in person client meetings required, dependent on the client and Blakely needs, with reimbursement for travel based on Blakely’s travel policy.
