Job Description

Position Overview:*

The Manager, Testing Operations will oversee the end-to -end quality assurance processes for software development projects, ensuring the highest standard of quality across both internal and 3rd party teams. This role requires strong leadership in managing Xplore QA standards in partnership with vendor managed Quality Engineering Services to deliver high-quality software solutions. The Manager, Testing Operations will express a strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality. He/She will also be responsible for collaborating with our vendor partner to adopt, integrate and implement effective processes and standards, along with metrics aligned to business goals, and effective cost management.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Team Management

• Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to implement best practices in software testing and ensure project goals are met

• Oversee and manage the performance of 3rd party test teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and quality deliverables

• Manage the relationship with our testing vendor, ensuring adherence to standards and that outsourced teams meet project deadlines, quality standards and budget constraints

• Evaluate vendor team performance and ensure compliance with service level agreements

2. Quality Assurance and Standards

• Work with our vendor to adopt, implement and maintain comprehensive Quality Engineering processes and standards, ensuring they align with organizational goals and industry best practices

• Work with our vendor partner to lead and expand on our testing automation strategies to optimize testing efficiency and reduce manual efforts.

3. Test Strategy and Execution

• Develop and oversee test plans, test cases and test execution for all software products

• Ensure thorough testing of software applications across multiple platforms and devices, including static, functional, regression, performance, accessibility, and security testing

• Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to software quality, escalating issues when necessary

• Act as a key point of contact between development teams, business owner and other stakeholders to align on quality objectives

• Work closely with project managers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software products

4. Reporting and Cost Management

• Work with our vendor partner and hold them accountable to maintain comprehensive QA reporting metrics that provide insights into quality, defects and performance

• Provide regular updates and reports on quality metrics, test progress and results to stakeholders and leadership

• Achieve quality assurance operational objectives by contributing to information analysis.

• Ensure high-quality project and portfolio outcomes by accurately estimating testing requirements, developing annual budgets and scheduling expenditures effectively

The ideal candidate will possess:

• 5 years of experience in software quality assurance with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role

• Strong understanding of QA processes, methodologies and industry standards (e.g. ISO, Six Sigma, Agile, etc.)

• Experience managing on-shore/local 3rd party testing teams and vendor relationships

• Proven track record of implementing and improving QA processes, tools and frameworks

• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills

• Familiarity with testing tools (ADO, JIRA, Test Rail etc.)and frameworks and test automation strategies

• Experience with strategic planning and evolving best practices, as well as knowledge of industry best practices

• Experience with performance, security and load testing is a plus

• Certification (preferred or equivalent work experience) in quality management or software testing (e.g. ISTQB, CSTQB, CMMI, or Six Sigma)

• Experience with cloud platforms and DevOps practices

• Knowledge of software development lifecycle models such as Agile, Waterfall, DevOps, Release based and Iterative

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality

• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment

• Excellent stakeholder management and vendor negotiation skills

• Ability to influence and drive quality improvements across teams
