Role:

The Sport Science Rehab and Performance Centre is looking for a Sport Medicine Physician who is passionate about working in a progressive, collaborative multidisciplinary care setting. This physician would be working primarily alongside Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Exercise Physiologists, Biomechanists, Performance Dieticians and Strength and Conditioning Specialists in our West Ottawa Clinic.

Established in 2020, The Sport Science Rehab and Performance Centre is an Ottawa leader in sport medicine and complete athletic injury rehabilitation. Our mission is to provide advanced resources to enhance rehab and performance outcomes for local amateur and professional athletes in the Ottawa area. Our 17,000 square foot, state of the art facility is home to some of the province’s leading technologies and rehab practitioners. Offering services across a broad range of professional disciplines, including physio, chiro, massage therapy, exercise physiology, dietetics, pelvic floor physiotherapy strength and conditioning, biomechanics and kinesiology, allows us to provide high level services most commonly reserved for professional sport environments.

In 2024, we continue to experience growing demands for Sport Medicine services. Our Sport Medicine Doctor and Orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Dave Simon (Canadian Men’s National Soccer Team) has built a significant following and he is looking for additional support in managing his growing waitlist and the many sport medicine needs of our clients and community.

Opportunities

• Provide non-surgical interventions, including but not limited to, injections, regenerative therapies, exercise and rehabilitation prescription as part of  an integrated support team of allied health practitioners, strength & conditioning specialists, exercise physiologists and biomechanists that leverage objective testing measures to support a the best evidence based, return to activity, rehab care possible.
• Facilitate subspecialty medical and IST referrals
• Potential opportunity to provide acute injury care, clinical diagnostics and early intervention for sport related injuries
• Potential opportunities to receive mentorship if needed
• Potential opportunities for surgical assisting
• Potential opportunities to participate in our Community Partnership with the Canadian Sport Institute – Ontario.
• Potential opportunities to collaborate in Sideline Coverage within existing and new pro-sport opportunities.

Requirements

• CASEM Diploma in Sport Medicine and Exercise Medicine
• Good Standing with CPSO
• Willing to work in partnership with ortho surgeon to deliver optimal care
• Comfort with managing concussions, bone stress injuries, lifestyle counseling an asset

Compensation

• To be negotiated. This will be an Independent contractor role designed to support the medical practitioner in retaining the maximum sustainable portion of their invoiced services. Will be suitable for a new grad looking to build practice in a supported environment or for an experienced practitioner looking to redesign current practice.
